February Special – Friends & Family Branding Discount Rate!

As my business continues to grow and evolve, I find myself wanting to take on more opportunities in different fields of business. I’ve taken on different branding jobs for small venues, the financial industry, tool and die machine shops and small technology companies but there’s so much more out there.

For this reason I’m reaching out to all of my local friends and family to see if you know of anyone that might need some help designing or revamping their website, needing flyers, brochure’s, logo’s, business cards, mailers or even social media and blogging help.

I’m going to make this my birthday special and let the promo run for the entire month of February! I’ll be offering a deeply discounted rate to anyone that you refer to me. They only need to mention your name to receive the discount. Discount will vary depending on the amount and type of work they’re looking for.

Anyone interested can comment below, message me on Facebook or email me at mahager@gmail.com.

Thanks so much for the love and support!

A Few Website Updates

My new and improved website has only been up for a couple of weeks now but I’ve already started making a few minor changes.

BlogImageOne of the things I’d like to be able to maintain throughout the year is offering current information and updates in the most efficient and timely way possible. I created an extension of my normal blog, you will now be able to view recent blog posts right on the home page when you visit. Once you click on these you’ll be brought to a secondary blog page that will have all of my posts from the date of my website launch moving forward. Unfortunately, I was unable to pull over ALL of my posts since the beginning of my blog life but you can still access those by going to my ABOUT page and clicking on blog. I hope to offer not just my life and business updates to you, but also provide tips, tricks, DIY’s and just general information pertaining to design and art.

I’ve also been toying around with some of the color blocks on my site and colors of the fonts so if you notice some minute changes it’s just me, you’re not losing it. Something that may have been pink before might be yellow now or some fonts that were hard to read have been lightened or darkened depending on its background.

If you come across something you think needs altered a bit or if you’re trying to find something and just can’t seem to locate it please let me know. I’m always open to suggestions!

A Baby Is On The Way!

January has been a month of excitement for us! Seems like a lot of big posts lately but we must round out the month with one more bit of exciting news…we’ll be adding yet another member to our family this August and couldn’t be more excited!

Although we’re still torn on finding out the sex of our third child, there seem to be a few votes in the house that there will be a baby sister on the horizon, we’ll see if they’re greeted with excitement or not in a few months. Lots of planning will be in order, for the baby and for my shop, but I’m sure everyone and everything will adapt wonderfully.

A lot of changes are going to be coming our way this year and we’re ready to tackle them all. Being prepared and having a set plan in place I believe is going to be the most important part to keeping us on track. With a lot of determination things are sure to run as smoothly as possible and we’ll be ready to enter 2016 with the same momentum as 2015!

The Power of Journaling

I was never really one for journaling and much like people who make a New Year’s resolution to exercise more and make healthier decisions in the new year, it takes a little while to get into that new routine. Once you’re in that groove it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re set on it either, you can go strong for weeks maybe even a few months but then you hit a bump in the road and miss a day or two and it seems like you have to start all over again. It’s like you have to retrain your brain and it feels like so much work then things start to fade away until you find your journal collecting dust in the corner. At least that’s what seems to happen to me!

A few years ago I read this book, The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, awesome book! And it actually helped get me on track and start thinking a little differently because it gave me a schedule to follow. It was as if I was in school again and each week I had an assignment to follow. “I can do this.” I thought. I had years of practice going to school. One of the first assignments was to keep a journal every morning, and it didn’t matter what you even wrote about in the beginning its focus was to just get you used to writing and writing every day. I followed that book to a T and felt so accomplished once I finished it. Then something happened, not sure what exactly, I’d like to think having a baby threw me off course but I think it occurred prior to that, either way, those journals slowly dwindled away until I found it lying under a pile of hats that I had made.

Hey, at least it couldn’t collect dust under all of those hats!

Lately I’ve felt like a million ideas were floating around in my head and just finding it hard to keep them all straight. Then I’d finally get that minute to breath and think to myself what should I work on? The baby is asleep and here I am, can’t think of a single thing from that random list of thoughts.

I started reading and watching many video’s and articles about getting on track for the new year and catching up on a few older ones that I missed over the holidays. One of those older one’s I pulled out of my inbox was of Marie Forleo, who I LOVE I must admit, she speaks on empowerment and building you’re business or just building a life you love. (You should definitely check her out if you have a spare minute.) During one of her videos, she speaks on journaling, journaling on gratitude specifically, but it got me thinking about how much I had once loved my journal and wrote in it every day and now it just sits.

After thinking about that video, I532959_786633108073149_2099945440525637711_n finally had the opportunity to dust that bad boy off the other day as my baby boy slumbered during his nap. Let me just say it was quite invigorating to finally get all of those ideas onto paper and to be able to look at my list. Now that it’s all written down in black and white I can actually see it and even organize those thoughts as to what takes precedence and what may be able to sit on that back burner a little longer. Feeling much more refreshed now and ready to enjoy my weekend!

I highly recommend you to go out and get yourself a nice journal (I always feel like the fancy journals pull me to write in them more haha) but if you don’t have the money a simple notebook you have lying around the house will do the job just as well. You could even let your creative juices flow and decorate the cover, that’s what I always have my oldest son do. Let your ideas out and then you’ll have the freedom to enjoy your day! Feel free to share you experience with journaling below in the comments or stop by my page and send me a message, I’d love to hear about it!!

Excited To Announce the Launch of My New Site!!

The time has come, my new website is up and running!! It went live over the weekend, had a few last minute kinks to work out but I LOVE it!! There’s just something about pouring your heart into something for weeks that makes you appreciate the end result that much more. Hopefully everyone will love the new layout more than the last site and you find it easier to navigate, you can view my new site at www.melissanagydesigns.com if you go to my old site you’ll just be redirected to this one, don’t worry, it’s not gone yet.

Some of the key features of the new site that you’ll notice are first and foremost the layout and the colors. The colors are just exhilarating and make you happy when you arrive. Although I liked my old site, it was very subdued and I didn’t feel like it completely represented me. This new site is colorful and sleek. It also makes it easier to understand who I am and how I can help you or your business.

I have a specific tab for my prints (or card shop) Peko_Vright now this tab will take you to an external Etsy shop which may get changed in the future but it’s functioning as well as I need it to. I also have distinct tab for my design opportunities. I’ve encompassed the majority of my work here, this will include: branding/social media, illustration design, mural design and knits & crochet. As of right now you cannot order through my knits and crochet section, this will also lead you to my existing Etsy shop for the time being. (My main hiccups to the site are the shops but the work-around seems to be doing just fine.)

My blog link is now located in the About section as I was trying to keep the tabs clear and concise, I didn’t want things to get too busy on the homepage but could change this if people prefer it easily accessible.

Please take a moment and look around, let me know your thoughts and please share with your friends and family. Word of mouth is my best marketing tool and I truly appreciate all of you for spreading the word and sharing your stories with me along the way!

Almost Ready To Launch

Now I planned to be announcing the launch of my new site this week however, we seem to have run into a little SNAFU! Things never seem to go as planned. Making a few other adjustments now and will hopefully launch this weekend if not early next week. Although it won’t be exactly how I had planned it originally it’s still going to have my main exciting new ventures for 2015!

Just to give you guys and gals an idea of what’s to come in the months ahead you’ll hopefully be seeing a more streamlined business. The main focus of my shop this year is to become more green and offering more natural fibers, natural papers and inks and just helping to leave a smaller footprint on this Earth.

First I’m launching a new line under the name pekoPRINTS and am super excited about this one! We’re going to be offering eco-friendly (recycled and biodegradable) greeting cards, wedding invitations and announcements in the shop! I’ve been trying to build up my shop but only have a dozen or two cards on there now, this will be continually growing and as always I accept custom orders and would love to work with clients on their ideas and designs.

The second main change you’re going to see is that I’m changing the name of my shop (hopefully for the last time!) to Melissa Nagy Designs and that will be the umbrella company. I’ll still have the website www.melissahager.com (at least for a little while) but will be adding www.melissanagydesigns.com momentarily, everything will be redirected to this new site so if you have the old one bookmarked get ready to change it. Under my new umbrella company I’ll be offering branding, illustrations, murals and knits & crochet will still be a side business of mine. You’ll begin to see a shift of focus to my pekoPrints and branding and the knitted work that I do will become all natural fiber items within my website shop. If you’re interested in my other knitted products you’ll still be able to go to my Etsy shop and peruse there. I do still have a crate full of acrylic blend yarns at home so you will still be seeing new items popping up in my Etsy shop, you just won’t see those items on my website.

Eeek, well I hope you’re as excited as I am about this new year! So many changes and I can’t wait to continue this momentum. Thanks again for an amazing 2014, without you I couldn’t be doing what I love!!
