The weekend temps finally rose to a balmy 30 degrees this weekend! I saw it as a little birthday present. However, we also ended up receiving about 6” of snow over the weekend, seems like a give and take this winter.
Even with the 6” of snow we had a wonderful weekend, my oldest crossed over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. We had a nice dinner with the Scouts with wonderful food and fellowship. The ceremony was quite lovely and I found myself thinking back to our first year at the Blue & Gold banquet when I had a little Tiger Cub thinking that one day we would be a Webelo II crossing over and just couldn’t believe that day had finally arrived.
We had our first Boy Scout meeting (I guess my last Boy Scout meeting since parents don’t really stay at this point) but I sat there in amazement at how well run they were. Everyone knew their part and conducted a meeting in a normal, adult fashion and these were 11-16 year old boys. I couldn’t help but wish I was a scout again as I sat there listening to what the year was going to entail, what merit badges they could earn in the coming months and even summer camp! I wish my Girl Scout troop had been this active in things, I’ll just have to live vicariously through my son 😀
Sunday we even had the opportunity to enjoy the freshly fallen snow. Temps were still in the 30’s and we knew they’d be dropping again so we had to enjoy the moment. We took our boys sled riding on a little hill near our house. Hoping to get our youngest used to it, it’s a work in progress. I actually think he had fun sledding this year but once his hands get cold and wet things are over and after the second or third pass down the hill he was done and only wanted mommy to hold him. He’ll do the same thing when we’re playing in the yard. He could be having a blast in the snow but the moment his hands get cold all games are off. I need to find some water resistant toddler gloves for that boy!
I hope everyone else enjoyed their weekend and if you’re up North like I am I hope you enjoyed the ever so slightly warmer temperatures we were experiencing. Here’s hoping that spring is around the corner!
I’m a day late but yesterday marked the beginning of the Chinese (Lunar) New Year! This is the year of the Goat (Sheep) and it’s a symbol of Peace, Harmonious co-existence and Tranquility.
The Sheep is also the symbol of the Arts, this should be a very creative year or at least that’s what I’m hoping! Many thoughts in my head and I’m hoping to be able to get them all out to share with all of you.
Ironically enough my first child was born the year of the sheep, this shall be his year and I’m hoping for many wonderful things for him. It also happens to be the birth year of my newest little one, the year of the Sheep seems to really follow me and my children! I also read somewhere that the best months for the Sheep are November and August…my oldest was born in November and this little bundle of joy is due in August. I think the stars are aligning and there should be good things coming our way (or maybe that’s just what I’m secretly hoping for).
Do any of you have any anticipations for the year or fun stories to share with the year of the Sheep? I would love to hear about them!
This will be a year of banding together in faith and in belief that good will prevail and win out over the forces that refuse to comply to a peaceful way of life. For those who trust in goodness, happiness and success will follow.
I know Valentine’s is over but as I mentioned in my last post I love to say I Love You just for the hell of it and not because I’m supposed to! Sooo, I’ve added two new cards to my PekoPrints shop just for this reason!
Have you been in a relationship for a while and have truly let your colors shine or maybe the chaos of your busy lives have left you little time for each other, then these cards are for you! They’re both blank on the inside so you can write sweet nothings to your significant other.
I’m hoping to start screen printing some of these cards in the very near future but for right now they’re still digital, printed on 110 lb eco-friendly card stock.
If you have questions or need custom orders please don’t hesitate to leave a comment below or contact me directly!
Valentine’s Day is upon us once again! Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? Or perhaps you’re going to hibernate in these freezing temperatures like me.
Valentine’s has never been a holiday I really celebrate, sure I get my boys a little something but it just seems like a silly holiday to me. I would rather my significant other surprise me randomly in the middle of the year with something silly just to show that he was thinking of me, unsolicited. I just have troubles wrapping my head around a holiday that we shove down people’s throats, making them believe that they must get their loved one something if they truly love them.
I personally like to celebrate the holiday by watching a nice horror flick with my husband 🙂 Curl up on the couch, pop some popcorn and relax! Haha I know, I may need to have my head checked out!
I have also come to the realization that I’m terrible at taking the time to photograph my new items and actually getting them posted! I apologize, I announced last weekend that new items would be hitting my shop and I only added one. I accidentally shipped another new item prior to photographing it so I’ll just have to make another one. It was a super cute, wool blend scarf in mustard yellow. I do have one more hat that I recently made for babies that will make it into my shop, hopefully Monday, here’s a sneak peak!
Lovely heather blue hat with a detachable flower pin makes it perfect for baby girls and boys. Loosely crocheted from a soft acrylic yarn is ideal for spring and fall days. It’s currently available in a newborn size but can be customized for up to 24 months.
Also don’t forget, tomorrow is the last day for my 20% off jewelry sale. Stock up now for spring.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!
Online shopping seems to be the trend in today’s modern world of the storeless generation but is everyone truly comfortable with making online purchases? I’ve been reading a lot of articles lately about online and mobile shopping, Omni channel marketing and technology are moving full speed ahead. While reading all of this information it really got me thinking about my customers or potential customers out there who might still be a little uncertain with technology and whether or not things are truly safe on the “interweb”, as my husband likes to call it.
There are so many different security measures out there already to try and protect customer’s data, customers that may not want to use their credit card often have the option of using PayPal for extra security. I know people are still hesitant in actually clicking that “buy now” button because in the back of their minds there’s that little voice that keeps asking, “Is this truly safe?”, “Is someone, somehow monitoring my computer?”.
A little off topic, but I actually just read an article today about SmartTV’s and if you’re having a conversation in front of the TV it can pick up your conversation as data and will send it back to their third party. Scary world when you can’t have a private conversation in your own home, so I understand why some would be hesitant with the internet. Things are beginning to get a little too much like George Orwell’s 1984!
Shopping in stores is unfortunately just as scary as purchasing online with so many databases getting hacked and people stealing your credit card information as you’re checking out at the cash register. It seems as though no place is safe anymore.
So my question to you is do you feel comfortable purchasing items online? Are there some stores that make you feel safer in your purchases than others? And why???
This is all for my own curiosity’s sake and I know my readers are the best ones to ask! Thanks for sharing your opinion 🙂
Every now and then I like to clean out my purse and hopefully get rid of some of the 10 lb weight I carry on my shoulder every day. Okay, I might be exaggerating it may not be 10 lbs but it’s pretty darn heavy! As I was going through it today I realized I had a nice little pile of different colored yarn pieces. Now everyone that knows me probably already knows that I carry a lot of random things in my purse, it’s the mom purse, but I was actually quite surprised at how many little yarn segments I found. I apparently knit with remnants way too often!
I think one of my goals for 2015 should be to get my supplies in order.
I often find myself receiving a custom order, digging through my large bin of yarn hoping and praying that I have that color in stock. Once I find it I either end up hoping it will be just enough or knowing that I’m going to be nowhere close to what I need and running to the store. Either way I typically take a snippet of my yarn before heading out to one of my many craft stores just to make sure my colors match. Then you guessed it, those little pieces work their way to the bottom of my purse where they will stay for a good month or two or possibly three until I decide it’s time to clean it out again.
In between all of those custom orders I have found a little time to create a few new items, including hats and scarves, which will be added to my shop hopefully this weekend. Love creating new items because I never run into my yarn woe’s 🙂 There are so many fun yarns in my bin too, so I can’t wait to start a few more projects, hopefully we’ll have a handful of new items coming your way before this year’s deep freeze subsides!
Check out my shop in the meantime to see my latest items and feel free to let me know if you’d like to see anything in particular or special colors you’d enjoy seeing.
Impactful and full bodied are two adjectives that Pantone is using for the color of the year, Marsala! Love it or hate it the color will be trending for the year so I hope you get used to it.
Although I love color, my immediate thoughts on Marsala are less than desirable. I’ve really been into many of the cool tones lately and the warmness of Marsala just wasn’t making an impact on me when I learned of the color. Don’t get me wrong, I do respect it for its rich, earthy and organic feeling.
I may not have chosen it for the color of the year but I must admit it does have its place as an accent or on its own in many design mediums. Its connection to the wine that gave its name to the color makes it a perfect hue for your kitchen or dining room. The many shades that this color can range from also give it great character and make it easy to incorporate into any design style be it interior or fashion. Matching your lipstick to your blouse in complementary shades of Marsala will not pose a problem this year.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the chosen color of the year. Do you love it or hate it? Or maybe you’re somewhere in between! Please share your insights below. I would love to hear them!
And if you’d like to incorporate the color into this year’s advertising materials please let me know, I’d love to put together some sketches for you!

If you live in the Midwest or Northeast like I do you probably pay attention to the superstitious Groundhog’s Day that comes around every February 2nd. It was always the holiday that would get left out of any excitement or celebration so we always tried to celebrate it.
This year Puxatawny Phil saw his shadow which means we could have another six weeks of winter, Ugh! However, Buckeye Chuck did not see his shadow! Think I’m going to stick with good ol’ Buckeye Chuck this year and hope for that early spring weather.
Either way, I know there’s a light at the end of this tunnel that will bring me spring soon or later. With spring, Mother’s Day and Easter all coming up right around the corner I’ve decided to offer all of you 20% off all of my in stock, spring jewelry collection!
This includes all of my knit, cord bracelets and necklaces at 20% off. This could make a fabulous Valentine’s gift as well, but hurry because this offer will expire on Valentine’s Day!
